Ever Thoughtful Sister
Since the day my girl knows how to request for food e.g. sweets, cheese, biscuits etc., she never fails to request one for her brother too. Sometimes, out of jest I’ll refuse to oblige her request on behalf the brother just to see how she’d react. And I tell you, she’s one persistent girl like her brother! *roll eyes*

She will insist, and insist and cry until you give in. There are times when the brother says he doesn’t want (whatever she’s giving him) or put the food away, she would still insist the brother eat it. Everyone in the house says she always thought of her brother... of course when the food is in abundance or when they are not fighting.

However, my boy behaves the opposite. He seldom thought of getting another portion for his sister even when there are plenty. Ermmm… maybe only 3 out of 10 occasions he will think of getting for the sister too . *sigh*
How do I impart that thoughtfulness in him?

Choux Pastry
Eheheh… this is one of my attempts to live up to my nickname :P Actually one of the reasons I started this blog is to document the recipes of food I like.

I found this site when searching for simple cream puff recipe simply fell in love with this because the ingredients are simple and the steps easy to follow. Since the intent is making cream puffs, I didn’t include sugar in the choux pastry as required in the original recipe.

The ingredients I used are
- 60g of plain wheat flour (original recipe calls for strong plain flour)
- 50g of butter (my preference is salted)
- 150ml of water
- 2 large eggs, well beaten

Steps:
1. Sift the flour.
2. Put the water and butter in a saucepan over a moderate heat and stir with a wooden spoon. Turn off heat immediately as soon as the mixture comes up to the boil.
3. ‘Shoot’ the flour into the above mixture while beating the mixture vigorously with a wooden spatula/electric mixer. Beat until a small ball of paste that does not stick to the side is formed.
4. Add eggs a little at a time, mixing each addition in thoroughly before adding the next. Beat until you have smooth and glossy paste.
5. Lightly grease a baking sheet then hold it under cold running water. Tap it sharply to get rid of excess moisture.
6. Scoop the mixture with a spoon onto the baking sheet, leaving 2.5cm between them.
7. Bake in pre-heated oven (on high shelf) at 200’C for 10 minutes and 220’C for another 15-20 minutes.
8. Pierce the side of each one to let out the steam, then cool on a wire rack.

We went to watch Disney on Ice too!
This post is obviously long overdue... heh!
So we took the kids to watch Disney on Ice last Saturday. We watched the 4:30pm show. I will not be posting photos here since Michelle has posted some fantastic shots on her site. None of my shots can ever measure up to that.
We had four tickets redeemed from some reward points. Since children under 3 years old do not require tickets, I brought my dad along. My boy and girl thoroughly enjoyed the show, although girl was restless for a while after intermission. In fact we adults enjoyed the show very much too. For me it was like childhood fantasy dream come true :P I've also tasted the most expensive popcorn ever in my life!!
Before the show started, my boy actually fretted because he didn't like any sound that comes from the speaker or microphone (the phobia came about after a bad experience of attending a wedding with karaoke and sitting near the loud speaker). But I convinced him that it'll not be too loud and the announcement is just the same as in Disney channel. When the show came on, he totally forgot about the loud sound.
Girl sat comfortably on my lap throughout the show and even clapped. Both of them nodded their head when asked if they want to watch Disney on Ice again. I guess we'll be going again in future :)
