From the garden
Know what this is? Do you like it? Look at the shiny, firm yet juicy flesh...
Here's how it looks like hanging from the tree, and some already dropped/plucked. It used to be quite expensive (and still is I think); therefore rarely gets to eat this when we were younger. After we have moved to our current place (my mama's home), we planted the fruit tree. Since then we have been able to eat this to our hearts content straight from our own garden. My MIL grew this plant too; the last I counted while taking photos, there are 7 fruits hanging on the tree :)
Want some?

Don't you need to wrap them up? To speed up the ripening process or protect against pests or something?

egghead, for me ,cempedak only taste nice if it's fried

msau, lol! luckily no monkeys around here!

michelle, got season meh? i don't notice got season leh... cempedak is sa seasonal fruit though.

l b, lol! with gunny sack some more!!! how many you want to haul back to italy?

domestic rat, for the lower ones, we do dress the fruits in old t-shirts heh! but for higher ones, no one bothers liao... and especially so many! a bit ciak beh liao...

riket, well jackfruit and cempedak are from the same family, however cempedak flesh is slimy and more fibrous. Jackruit has a firmer flesh and crunchier texture provided the fruit is not overly ripe.

chen, helen, sure, if the fruit ripens in time when we do meet ;)

simple american, it's called jackfruit. You can check it out in wikipedia. Be sure to try it if you're visiting this region ;) Don't ask me why they name the fruit jack though hahah!

mom2ashley, yeah... you can plant it in your garden too ;)

hesslyn, the fruit is purportedly able to cure cough too (fruit mustn't be washed/rinsed with water or refrigerated 不可过水或储于冰箱). How true don't know la coz never tried :P
