32 The Mansion
There's this restaurant called 32 The Mansion near E&O Hotel; actually it's on the left before reaching E&O Hotel. Gosh I don't know what is the road name, just know how to get there. This is the building's exterior. Looks grand eh? It's a colonial building by the sea.

We had dinner there before the mid-autumn day, to celebrate MIL's and hubby's birthday. Yeah, their birthday is just one day apart.

This is a shot of the restaurants interior. It's dimly lit, have a romantic ambience don't you think?

They serve western food as well asian dish(es). Well the asian dish I know is crab meat laksa, which is one of their specialties. It tastes somewhat like siamese laksa with crab meat in it. I like the six-spice chicken, nicely roasted, very fragrant and the meat is tender and juicy.

They serve ala-carte as well as set menus. The set dinner comes with salad as starter, soup of the day, main course of your choice, cake of your choice as dessert and then coffee or tea. The price of the set depends on the main course one chooses.

This is another section of the restaurant with different decor. It looks brighter before sun set due to the glass panels and looks out to the sea. A very nice view.

We've attended a friend's wedding reception here and it was simply lovely. The food spread was nice and the guests were free to mingle around, unlike the traditional chinese course dinner where one is confined to sitting at the table.

I didn't post up photos of the food because I'm not doing a food review here. The place is suitable for dating as well as for families (since they do have baby chairs).

The Piano
I promised to take pictures of my new toy after it's been delivered to the house. So here it is.

Still looks new. I've been playing it when I have the time and simply love the sound and touch. I guess I don't regret the purchase after all. The boss of the shop I bought the piano from will be coming over to tune the piano this Saturday.

It's funny how our limbs/fingers seem to have memory of their own. I was quite surprise that I could still play Sonata in F (Mozart) 1st movement even after not touching the piano for over 10 years. The piece was one of my exam pieces last time.

Here's a peek at the little girl attempting to be a piano virtuoso. LOL! *kidding kidding*

Sickness Spell
My boy has just recovered from fever, still have coughs and lots of phlegms. He whines about everything when he is not well. My girl started having high fever on monday night; was worried so I took emergency leave yesterday. Her temperature is slightly down this morning. *Phew!*
I am having a stubborn sore throat (even swallowing hurts) that wouldn't go away.
I am exhausted from not sleeping well because I monitor girl's fever and sponge her from time to time, not to mention having to feed her medicine at 2:30am!
I need some rest.

Updated 26/9/05 @ 2:15pm:
To all those who commented, thank you for your concerns and well wishes.
Last week was an agonizing week for me because baby's temperature went up and down like a seesaw; I feared it was dengue. Luckily the blood test confirmed otherwise. Still, she was feverish and lethargic. I was very worried, to the extent of 吃龙虾都无味 (Iiteral translation: eat lobster also no taste).
After days of diligently feeding medicines, boy's cough is getting better and baby has recovered from fever just yesterday (at last!) but has not much appetite though.
Now I can heave a sigh of relief.

The Seven Things Meme
Gee… I thought being a newbie in the blogsphere means I won’t have to worry about being tagged with memes. How wrong I was! Not only being tagged, but tagged twice!! First was by Willwolf, then by Twinsmom. Willwolf said, “Girls, if you don’t do the meme, then I will hamsap you.” So…so… I better do the meme or else…

Seven things you plan to do before you die :
i. Watch my children grow up and be successful in their endeavours
ii. Watch my children get married and have children
iii. Own a semi-D or bungalow on Penang Island and renovate it with resort theme (heeheehee please allow me to dream here… :P)
iv. Travel abroad with family including my parents and siblings (plus their family)
v. Go on the Silk Road tour, Alaska Cruise (if cannot afford maybe settle for cheaper ones but definitely not along the Malacca Straits), Disneyland and etc. etc. etc.
vi. Compete in the Amazing Race if ever the show allows foreigners to participate and win the competition (hahahah… I’m very good at daydreaming)
vii. Own a profitable business

Seven things I could do :
i. Start exercising
ii. Brush up my piano skills again
iii. Shed the extra pounds on the belly
iv. Update the blog more regularly
v. Bring the kids to Taiping Zoo
vi. Go for facials and be more consistent in the home DIY skin care regime
vii. Buy myself a digital camera and take more photos

7 Celebrity crushes :
i. Audrey Hepburn
ii. Takeshi Kaneshiro
iii. Leslie Cheung
iv. David Wu
v. Cherrie Chung
vi. Johnny Depp (when he was starring in 21 Jump Street)
vii. Kris Phillips

Actually hoh, it’s not easy to come up with the above seven. Frankly, I’ve never really had any idols (to the extent of keeping posters of them, keep a collection of their movies/songs, or even becoming star-chasers追星族), all because my Papa remarked 点醒我 when I was into my teenage years, that all these celebrities are just human being like you and I. And I thought, yeah right, why should I idolize these people? (hope I won’t get flamed by all the celeb fan club out there!) That’s why you won’t see me going ga-ga over celebrities; the most I would do is pat-gua 八卦 the entertainment gossips only :P

7 often repeated words :
i. 哥哥/妹妹 ge-ge/mei-mei, come…
ii. Come, mama sayang…
iii. Hug hug…
iv. Boy, don’t shout!
v. Boy, don’t jump! Jump again I’ll take cane!
vi. Girl, don’t climb! Climb again mama piak!
vii. Girl, cannot open/touch/take this!

7 physical traits I look for in the opposite sex :
i. Pleasant face features
ii. Tall
iii. Healthy tan
iv. Muscular build
v. High nose bridge
vi. No smokers stain on teeth
vii. Big hands

7 tags goes to :
i. Sexymama (because no update for so long already! *protest*)
ii. Mr. Belacan
iii. Earthtone (please kacau Twinsmom’s house again :P)
iv. James
v. Shoppingmum
vi. Mama22beas
vii. Suzette

Hey people, no obligation to do the meme if you are too busy with serious matters… but if you don't mind doing it for fun, then try it. Cheers! :)

Hugs and Kisses
This morning I fetched the children to Mama's place as usual. As I was about to leave for work, I asked Jean to walk to me for a hug.

DG: Come Jean, hug hug... *extending hands*

Jean: *toddling quickly to me and gave a hug*

I planted a kiss on her cheek, then asked her to go to Mama for breakfast. She walked to the dining table, then before I was getting up from squatting position, she turned around and walked to me again, saying

Jean: ak...ak (hug hug)

DG: oh ok, hug hug *extending hands*

As I was pulling away after giving her a tight hug, she suprised me.

Jean: ki...

DG: huh? *puzzled*

Jean: ki *she repeated*

DG: *puzzled again*...... *suddenly light bulb lits* oh... kiss is it? *gave her a peck on the cheek*

Jean: ki-ssh *trying to pronounce the ss-sound*

Aww... my girl is literrally asking for hugs and kisses! That just warmed my heart so much!

Finally I decided on...
Tadaaa... this!!

source from here

Yup, I’m getting my children myself a big and expensive toy; it’s a Yamaha U3 upright piano. Tee hee hee…

Actually, the offer that I mentioned was for a new Yamaha U1J, those used in ABRSM exams. The taukeh-soh quoted the price of an examination model unit for a brand new piano, which is too good to be true! That means it is about 25% off the retail price, albeit still exorbitantly priced for home use. At first I had thought I wouldn’t mind forking out that money because I have wanted to buy one all along for my children and myself (yeah yeah… you can say I’m using them as an excuse hahah), and I’m a sucker who can’t resist a good bargain :P

However after seriously thinking it through the next day, I began having second thoughts whether it’s worth spending so much (actually I was having a hard time parting with my money heheheheh!). The piano is approximately half the price of a Perodua Kancil 850EZI. Well, like my Papa has put it, if I’m a millionaire, of course the price would be kacang putih; but for a normal working class people 打工一族 like me, not necessary to spend so much. Therefore I didn’t by the brand new model in the end and bought a used piano, which is a better model relatively speaking, at half the price instead. The piano still looks kind of new… well, since I‘ve bought it I have to say it looks new :P

Now, being the sucker for not wanting to miss out on a good deal, I had paid a RM50 deposit to sort of reserve the brand new piano (I told them I’d confirm the order during the weekend). So when I’ve decided not to buy the piano from them, I need to get something from the store so that I don’t forfeit the deposit.

Let me reveal to you first that I can be annoyingly fickle minded at times. First I called the taukeh-soh to discuss on the price of a violin which we agreed on later (still I think it’s a tad expensive than another store); then the staff found out that they don’t have stock in-house and need to place order. After hanging up the phone, thought of the RM40-50 I could save if I get it from other store, I called the taukeh-soh again to ask if I could use the deposit instead to enroll my son for JMC class and cancel the violin order. I know I know (am guilty of being petty :PbPb)… if I’m the taukeh-soh, I also would be exasperated with such a customer! But as a customer I’ve got the right to choose how to spend my money right? After all, either way they still make money from me. Heh!

Excited over...
I'm very very excited now :) :) No, excited is still an understatement. How to describe huh? Let's see...

Urmmm... like you have eyed on buying *something* for quite awhile already but couldn't yet because of the exorbitant pricing. So you keep surveying around hoping to catch a good deal from dealers or stores. Then unexpectedly, you found out about this great offer from a display in a hypermaket that you couldn't resist even though it will still burn a hole in your pocketS (but a lot reduced from the original pricing already lah!). Soon after, a talk on the phone with the taukeh-soh, I think I'm getting an even better deal :P!!

I think I will most probably take it. That also means the purchase will burn many holes in my pocket and purse. I might have to starve myself for months years just to refill my savings to where it is now :( But, ... but, really can't resist lah... after all I need to pamper myself once in a while right?

Will update later when the deal goes through. :P
